Engagement objective
Population Foundation of India is engaged in an Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) intervention in Rajasthan for adolescents. PFI wished to develop an advocacy strategy that would guide their work with key opinion leaders and other stakeholders in the state.
StratComm was mandated to develop the advocacy strategy.
Our process
StratComm had already undertaken a perception analysis study for the project. At the same time, the Population Foundation of India had undertaken a situation analysis and scoping study within the state.
To develop the strategy, StratComm looked at the evidence generated from all 3 studies to build an advocacy strategy that the team in Rajasthan could use to engage with the stakeholders.
This was also done through a participatory development process. A workshop with the Foundation’s state and national team members was organized to identify the stakeholders for advocacy and develop an audience-wise framework including messages.
Key outcome
The final strategy included means of engaging with policy makers (elected representatives), senior government officials, youth leaders, media and key influencers to bring issues of adolescent reproductive health to the centre stage and create an urgency for action.
